Since some American states are in the process of overturning the ban on online gambling within the borders of certain states, European online casino operators are showing interest in this market. Many of these European internet gambling companies used to operate in the United States but since the United States Congress banned online casinos in 2006 these companies such as Euro Partners (Casino Tropez) had to pull out of the American market. However in recent years, several states have seen the value in allowing internet gambling to be legalised and regulated as this will bring in much needed tax dollars. The states of Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware are all involved in legalising intra state online gambling. The European online gaming company 888 Holdings has recently come to an agreement with Caesars Interactive Entertainment that would see it offer 888 branded casino games and poker once it receives the necessary licences and once online gambling is permitted in New Jersey towards the end of this year.
888 Casino was launched in 1997 and its initial gaming licence was from Antigua but in 2003 the company was granted a gaming licence from Gibraltar and it moved its operations to Gibraltar from Antigua. When the United States passed its Unlawful Internet Gambling enforcement Act in 2006, which banned internet gambling in the United States, 888 pulled out of the American market. Now, however with the moves to allow online gambling in individual states, 888 is preparing to re-enter this potentially lucrative market which may be valued at over 400 million dollars each year, with its partnership with Caesars Interactive Entertainment.888 Holdings is one of the world’s leading online casino gaming and solutions providers. The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and it recently released positive results for the second quarter of 2013. Its revenue of 97 million dollars shows an increase of 5% when compared to income in 2012. 888 will provide Caesars Interactive entertainment with its online gaming platform amongst other products.
