Rumours that Google may bid for Bwin

Rumours that Google may bid for BwinRumours have been flying that Google may be thinking of making a bid for Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment. Both companies are among the largest in their own domains. However recently Bwin Party has been in some difficulty after a run of low revenue reports and the value of its shares has dropped. Bwin party is one of the biggest gaming operators worldwide and is based in Gibraltar.
The company has several European gaming licences and was formed two years ago when Bwin Interactive Entertainment and PartyGaming merged to form Bwin.party Digital Entertainment. The rumours of a Google takeover of Bwin party are based in part on the fact that Bwin  Party is to launch internet gambling operations in New Jersey before the end of the year when that state will legalise online gambling within its own borders. If Bwin goes ahead with its plans based on receiving a gambling licence to operate within New Jersey it will set up poker and casino games with its partners MGM Resorts and Boyd Gaming. It is believed that Google would act before the 23rd of November if it were to bid for Bwin party since on that date intra state online gambling is due to become legal in New Jersey.
Since only New Jersey land based casinos can apply for the state’s online gambling licences under New Jersey’s gambling legislation, these land based casinos are in the process of partnering with well established mostly European based internet gambling operators. Bwin is to form a partnership with the Borgata casino in New Jersey. The Borgata is a casino, hotel and spa in Atlantic City which was built in 2003 at a cost of over one billion dollars. By partnering with Bwin Party, the casino will be able to move into the online gambling market in New Jersey in the coming months depending on the granting of licences. There are only three states at the moment involved in the race to launch a complete online casino. These states where online gambling is to be legalised and regulated are Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey. It looks as if New Jersey will be the state to launch the first real money internet casino in the United States. Whether Google will be involved is not known as there has been no official word.
