On July 1st the one million dollar buy in WSOP Big One No Limit Hold’em tournament in aid of the charitable organisation One Drop will take place. The buy ins in the WSOP 2012 tournament vary from 500$ to one million dollars depending on the event and while the tournament is going on there will also be satellite tournaments in the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino and in the Rio convention centre.
The 43rd World Series of Poker, which is the world’s longest running poker tournament, events have recently commenced and will run until the 16th of July with the Main Event final being held at the end of October. Brent Hanks a 29 year old former grade school teacher won his first World Series of Poker gold bracelet in the 1 500$ buy in No limit Hold’em tournament which began with 2 101 players which makes his win even more remarkable.Hank’s gold bracelet won in the tournament played over three days was the second won in this year’s WSOP, the first gold bracelet was awarded to the winner of the Casino Employees Championship which was the tournament’s opening event. This year there are 61 gold bracelets to be won which is an increase of one on those awarded in 2011. Brent Hanks also won the huge amount of 517 725 dollars. Since 2008 this 29 year has won close to a million dollars in World Series of Poker events. The total amount in the tournament’s prize fund was 2 836 350 dollars.The event which took place in the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas went from 2 101 players on day one to 239 on the second day and from this number to 15 before reaching the final table of nine. The WSOP tournament attracts players from all over the world from over a hundred countries and there is also the World Series of Poker Europe the second of which takes place in September and October in the Majestic Barriere Casino and Hotel in Cannes in the South of France.
